Saab aims to restart production within a week after its owner, Spyker Cars, secured a 30 million euro ($44.7 million) short-term loan to help ease its cash crunch. Spyker said it will borrow the money from Gemini Investment Fund in a convertible loan agreement with a 6-month maturity. The interest rate of the loan is 7 percent a year and the conversion price is 4.88 euros per share.
Family and friends gathered at the GM Heritage Center in Warren, Mich., to celebrate the life of the late Chuck Jordan, who retired as General Motors vice president of design in 1992 and died on Dec. 9, 2010. The Citroën DS Wild Rubis concept is the French manufacturer's foray into the premium SUV market, to be shown at the Shanghai auto show next Saturday. At 4,700mm long it's slightly larger than a BMW X3 or Audi Q5, with a particularly generous wheelbase of 2,900mm, presumably to offer the rear passengers a little more space - major consideration in China. It was designed in the DS studio in France, something the company is keen to promote given China's desire for chic European luxury goods.
